The Chosen Runway: Sabishiro Beach

Because of the ideal conditions it provided to aviators, Sabishiro Beach in Misawa City (then Misawa Village), Aomori Prefecture was selected as the takeoff point for aircraft attempting the first nonstop transpacific flight. Five attempts made between 1930 and 1932 thrust Sabishiro Beach into the limelight worldwide.
